Other Services

At Community Services we provide a variety of other programs and services. The details of these are presented below.

Home Support Program

Home Support provides care to those who are not able to perform these duties without assistance. Home Support assists people to remain independent and in their own homes as long as possible.

Counselling Services

Children Who Witness Violence:

Helps children who's emotional health and self esteem have been damaged by witnessing abuse; and teaches non-violent ways of conflict resolution to help end the inter-generational cycle of abuse.

Sexual Abuse Intervention Program:

Provides therapeutic response, assessment, counselling, referral and follow up services to children and youth who have been sexually abused.

Stopping the Violence Program:

This program provides counselling and related support to adult women who have experienced violence in their relationships, sexual assault and childhood abuse.  Services are from a feminist and trauma based perspective in accordance with STV program standards, policies and procedures.  Telephone extension is 211.

Transit Bus

Provides in and out of town transportation for the general population. Wheelchair lift equipped. Routes include two weekly trips to Nelson, trips to Silverton, Fauquier, and the Hot Springs. In town the bus acts as a taxi.  Click here for more information.

Meals on Wheels

Provides hot noon meals to anyone in the community.

RCMP Victim / Witness Services

RCMP Victim Witness Services provides emotional support and practical assistance to victims of all types of crime and trauma.  Services include:  information on effects and recovery, status of police investigations and court file updates, court orientations and accompaniments, and referrals to other agencies and services.

Community Action Program for Children

Promotes the safety and well being of children 0 - 6 years by providing outreach education, prevention, and intervention including pregnancy and support for early maternity discharge.
